Full-time training for yoga teachers · Santa Teresa, Costa Rica
Six days to understand the body behind every asana, and to use your hands to help your students go further. Thai massage taught with yoga in mind, from the anatomy to the mat.
Why this training
Many yoga teachers know the asanas perfectly, but when a student can't open the hips for Lotus or can't fold forward, words and cues are not enough. Often the limit is in the muscles and the joints, not in the effort.
This is Thai massage, but only where it serves yoga. Every technique starts from an asana: you learn to read which muscles and joints are behind each pose, and how to release them with Thai stretching, joint mobilisation and muscle manipulation, so your students progress faster and safer.
What you'll learn
The muscles, joints and muscle chains that work in yoga, explained simply and from the point of view of a practitioner, not a textbook.
Take a pose apart: which muscles stretch, which ones work, which joints move. Then choose the right techniques to prepare the body for it.
Hands-on techniques to release tight muscles and mobilise the hips, shoulders, spine and ankles, beyond simple stretching. Not part of my yoga teacher workshop: you learn them only in this training.
Thai yoga stretches with correct positioning and leverage, safe for your student and easy on your own body.
Compressions, acupressure and rhythmic work, with body weight and gravity, to use in private sessions or before and after class.
A new skill to offer your students, and a new service for your teaching business.
Which training is for you?
From the basics of Traditional Thai massage to the advanced techniques, until you have enough knowledge to build your own massage routine around each client's needs.
See the therapist training →Thai massage specifically for yoga. Every technique starts from an asana: Thai stretching, plus joint mobilisation and muscle manipulation, to help your students go deeper into their practice.
Already joined my Advanced Thai Yoga Stretching workshop? The six days follow the same asana-first approach, go deeper, and add joint mobilisation and muscle manipulation, which are not part of the workshop.
How you'll learn
We start from an asana, look at the anatomy behind it, then practise the techniques in pairs while I walk around and correct you. You give and you receive, so you feel in your own body what your students will feel.
No previous massage experience needed: your yoga practice is the foundation.
Included in person
Everyone who joins the training in person gets the online video courses of the yoga path, to review and keep practising after the week.
The foundation of the yoga path, organised by muscle chain.
One complex asana per class, with all the muscle chains and techniques behind it.
Live classes to ask questions and keep improving once you are back home.
Your teacher
I trained at the Old Medicine School and at ITM school in Chiang Mai, and in Santa Teresa I have worked on more than 2,000 clients, many of them yogis and yoga teachers.
It started with Maria, a client who could not get into Lotus. For the first time I chose my Thai massage techniques with the anatomy of one asana in mind, and it worked. This training is everything I learned from that day on.
